Christine Löw
Geb. in Ochtrup/Westfalen. Lebt und arbeitet als freischaffende Malerin in Zangberg/Bayern.
Mitglied im BBK, Mitglied im AK 68 Wasserburg.
Zahlreiche Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen im In- und Ausland.
Arbeit in Bildserien der konkreten Kunst, Reduzierung des Bildaufbaues mit strengen geometrischen Elementen. Streifen und Flächen werden geordnet zu Intervallen und Rhythmen, vertikal, diagonal und horizontal.
Dabei geht es um die Balance der Flächen und Verhältnisse der Farben zueinander, Maß und Proportion, Klang und Intensität der Farben. Die Farbauswahl ist intuitiv und frei.
Seit 2020 Arbeit mit Relief-Bildern. In diesen Arbeiten interessiert mich die Grenze zwischen Malerei und Skulptur. Rhythmus, Struktur und Masse sowie die flächigen und räumlichen Beziehungen stehen im Mittelpunkt der Arbeiten. Die ganze Wirkung dieser Relief-Arbeiten erschließt sich erst, wenn der Betrachter sich vor dem Werk bewegt - wechselnder Farbauftrag, Raum, Licht und Schatten werden Teil der Arbeiten.

Artist statement.
I work with vertical and horizontal stripes of color applied flat on their own, pushing hard against each other. The different width stripes create a rhythmic effect that relaxes the rigor of the compositions and lends the pictures their liveliness. While the individual surfaces often appear in subtle variations of a hue, they are always in contrast to a contrasting color that breaks the harmony and surprises the viewer. Through the expressive colors, the paintings unfold their spatial depth and their emotional impact.
In the formal language of Concrete Art, I see the opportunity to express myself directly and directly. The self-imposed restriction to geometric shapes and clear colors, I understand as a challenge that spurs on always new variations and image ideas.
Since 2020 I work with relief images. In these works I am interested in the boundary between painting and sculpture. Rhythm, structure and mass as well as the surface and spatial relationships are the focus of the works. The full effect of these relief works only becomes apparent when the viewer moves in front of the work - changing application of paint, space, light and shadow become part of the work.
